Summary:
Booth and Lincoln. Most familiar with these names will know of their once and fatal meeting, but what about the events leading up to the untimely death of the 16th U.S. president?
On this walking tour, we’ll count down the moments preceding Abraham Lincoln’s demise and the improvised actions of our actor-turned-assassin.
We’ll set the scene of mid-19th-century D.C. at the Navy Memorial, where your guide will recreate the city as John Wilkes Booth saw it, the nation’s capital in the throes of civil unrest. The clock truly starts ticking outside a preserved boarding house, the secret meeting place of the Confederate conspirators.
By the time we arrive in front of Ford’s Theatre, you’ll start to get a fuller picture of the moments leading up to the final act that played out here in this historic venue.
Here, we’ll reflect on the paths taken by these two legendary figures and the legacy this short yet momentous period of time left on the American psyche and political stage.
