Harlem is the capital of African American culture that has gone under many transformations through history. Early settlers employed the fertile farm land which developed into vast estates for wealthy New Yorkers during and after the revolutionary war until the late nineteenth century made way for modern developments that would be inhabited in large part by the African American community. Over the next several decades Harlem became a center of great creative activity from writers, artists, musicians and intellectuals inspiring a cultural revolution and the Harlem Renaissance. On this tour you will go through the rich history of this neighborhood and visit Abyssinian Baptist Church, Apollo Theater, Swing Street, Striver's Row, Astor Row, and more.
