Sin, vice, and prostitution were weaved into the fabric of New Orleans, from its early days as a French colony, when our city's founding mothers would hang their red lanterns outside wooden shacks; to Storyville, our world-famous red light district (1897-1917), where queen-madams decked in diamonds lived in palaces of marble and mahogany -- and the early pioneers of jazz music entertained customers. There was even an on-stage "Sex Circus"! And a whole lot more we can't mention!
